Nishioji-Sanjo Station (西大路三条駅)

Nishioji-Sanjo Station, located in Saiin-imayamada-cho, Ukyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, is a stop on the Arashiyama Main Line, which is operated by Keifuku Electric Railroad Co., Ltd. It was called Sanjoguchi Station prior to March 18, 2007. The station number is A4.

Station layout

The platform for inbound trains (going in the direction of Shijo-omiya) is a stop (safety island) for trams, and another platform is provided for outbound trains, with each platform being placed in parallel, but slightly shifted with respect to the other platform, and Nishioji-dori Street is located between the two platforms.

History

March 25, 1910: This station started operating as Sanjoguchi Station of Arashiyama Electric Tramway.

April 2, 1918: The companies concerned merged, and it became a station of Kyoto Dento, an electric power company.

March 2, 1942: The tramway was transferred to Keifuku Electric Railroad Co., Ltd., and this station became a facility of that company.

March 19, 2007: Its name was changed to Nishioji-Sanjo Station.
